Top of the range, high performance Dura-Ace hydraulic disc brake Di2 STI’s give you control, modulation and power with minimal effort in all riding conditions.
With a compact overall shape, the Dura-Ace R9150 levers bring both Shimano’s praised hydraulic disc brake technology and the category-leading Di2 electronic shifting in a package ready for the most demanding of race situations. An updated button feel and layout ensure precise shifting while enhanced ergonomics guarantee comfort, allowing you to concentrate on the effort at hand.
The Dura-Ace R9100 series of Flat Mount disc brakes bring powerfully integrated brake performance to the highest rungs of road cycling. The R9170 calipers are light weight while offering better control and confidence in race conditions.
Technology
Free Stroke
The distance from initial lever position to pad contact point can be adjusted to suit any hand size, type of riding and individual rider preferences.
SEIS
A technological innovation of the computerized shifting system based on the Di2 concept with which is called, the SEIS (Shimano Electronic Intelligent System).
The SEIS innovative shift technology is still based on the Shimano Index System (SIS) that has proved its superior gear changing characteristics over the years. The big difference is that in this case, the shifting action is provided for by electronics instead of mechanics.
This electronic shifting system has been extensively tested over past two years by several professional riders in all conditions possible, such as rain, mud, low temperatures, cobble stone roads and combinations of all of these at the same time.
Shifting is executed by simply pressing the button. No power is needed to shift, which gives important advantages since it is easier now to always keep a tight grip on the handlebar and to keep your concentration on riding instead on shifting.
The shift system allows accurate and effortless shifting in difficult circumstances for example when you have cold hands or when you are completely exhausted. Furthermore, the shifting performance will never be affected by contaminated or stretched cables since the shifting signal is transferred electronically. The operating buttons work similarly to mechanical Dual Control Lever so you don’t need to re-program your mind for the SEIS.
E-Tube
E-Tube is Shimano’s “service” that uses websites or apps to maximize the enjoyment of riding a bicycle by connecting the riders, the bicycles and Shimano.
Shimano’s genuine application E-Tube Project for Mobile allows you to customize your bike, update firmware, and maintain it by connecting it wirelessly to your bike. You can also get the more detailed bike maintenance by connecting to your bike by wire with E-Tube Project for Windows V4 application.
- Easily update to the latest firmware with the user-friendly interface
- Set two e-bike assist profiles to your preference, and customize the assist characteristics according to the riding situation
- Design your favorite Di2 gearshift in Synchronized Shift
- Easily adjust both front and rear derailleurs via application
Reach Adjust
Brake lever is equipped with a reach adjust mechanism. The distance from handlebar grip to lever can be adjusted to suit any hand size, type of riding and individual rider preferences.
One Way Bleeding
“One Way Bleeding” was developed for quick and easy prevention of air in our hydraulic system. We have streamlined the oil route throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being captured in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.
Ice Technologies Freeza
Ice Technologies combined with Freeza disc brake rotor construction rapidly dissipates heat for more consistent braking performance in extreme conditions, longer pad life, and less brake fade and noise.
- Lightweight clad rotors with heat dissipating paint on exposed aluminum layer segments provide superior cooling, consistent brake performance, and lighter operation under all conditions
- Clad brake pads with Aluminum/Stainless fins support rapid heat dissipation which helps reduce maintenance, provide longer pad life, and create less brake fade and noise
Ice Technologies and Freeza provide consistent braking performance with longer pad life, less brake fade and noise.
The lightweight and highly efficient three-layer sandwich structure of stainless steel–aluminum–stainless steel enhances heat dissipation.
140°C reduction in heat (vs stainless steel disc brake rotor)
Reduce more 10°C by high heat dissipation paint (equipped: SM-RT900 and RT-MT900)
Features
- With Di2 technology shifting is easy and precise – just a light touch, as soft as a mouse click, is sufficient for the front or rear derailleur to instantaneously select the correct gear
- The removal of traditional mechanical cables in favour of electrical wires eliminates poor shifting caused by contaminates, corrosion and stretching, and also provides effortless gear shifts
- Simply pressing tactile buttons allows effortless and comfortable shifting even when your hands are cold
- Shifters are lightweight thanks to carbon fibre lever blades, carbon composite bracket body, and a titanium clamp band / fixing bolt
- Drop bar STI with shift buttons located in a near identical place to the positions you’d assume shifting using a mechanical Shimano STI
- Hydraulic brake lever provides excellent stopping power with less effort especially from the hood position
- Hydraulic reservoir tank provides pad to rotor clearance auto-adjust maintaining braking performance during pad wear
- Finely tuneable reach adjusters for the levers enable custom fitment for all hands
- Free stroke adjustment for pad to rotor contact setting
- Levers are supplied without electrical cables, as these need to be ordered separately to suit
- Two ports for use with E-tube electric cables
- Kit contains bled ST-R9170 STI, BR-R9170 flat mount brake calliper with pads, hoses and mineral oil (without rotors or adapters)
- Weight is 360g a pair
